Hebrews 12:1 speaks of our spiritual race and how we are to lay aside every weight and run with endurance. Recently, I had an example in the natural to illustrate this.
My grandson was in a swimming competition and was out ahead until he looked around for the one who was gaining on him. In so doing he was overtaken by the competition.
Our race is not an athletic event as we know them, but in our spiritual lives we are to look at Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. We are to be aware of the wiles of our enemy, Satan, but we are not to focus on him as we run our spiritual race. We are to keep out eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
We are more than conquerors through Him who loves us (Romans 8:37). Let us run our race with endurance and keep our eyes on our Savior not on our circumstances or obsessing over our enemy.
