Did you ever hear your car engine sputtering and feel the car jerking? You looked down and noted the oil gauge in your car was low. Suddenly it dawned on you that your car is overdue for an oil change. Dirt has gotten into your oil. Your engine just won’t run well.
This reflects what happens when we neglect to keep a close check on the condition of our hearts. Sometimes I find my spirit has gotten all clogged up with offenses, judgments, and unforgiveness. I have taken my eyes off Jesus and put them on self or other people. I have neglected to keep a fresh supply of the oil of the Spirit flowing through my heart and I discover my life is just not running smoothly.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to remember to spend time with you daily, allowing you to cleanse me of impurities so the oil of the Holy Spirit flows freely as I journey through life.
